Many of the suites or "casitas" at El Monte are actually renovated historic adobe suites.

Curoxin treated pool
The pool at El Monte Sagrado is disinfected with ultraviolet light and Curoxin so it chlorine-free.

Tension Structure
The pool and hot tub area are covered with a translucent tension structure that provides protection from the elements as well as natural daylighting.

The Living Machine® System treats all of the the wastewater generated from the resort.

Natural Ponds
These natural water features are maintained using collected rain and storm water along with treated waste water from the resort. This water reuse makes El Monte an oasis in the high desert town of Taos.

Sacred Circle
The Sacred Circle is home to trees that are over a hundred years old. It is the physical and spiritual center of the resort. The Sacred Circle is often used for yoga, and other outdoor "healing" activities.

Water Feature
A water feature runs along the entirety of the 18 Native American themed suites. All of the suites have balconies that open up to this large water feature.

Exterior Stair
This simple and elegant stair with the custom, rustic handrails, is near the entrance of the resort.

Living Machine Biolarium
The engine of this beautiful lush space is the Living Machine® System that treats the wastewater from the resort. Treated effluent is seen flowing in this waterfall.

Many of the spaces in El Monte are designed to have natural daylight, including this hallway over looking the water feature outside and the biogrande inside.

Native American Suites
All of the Native American Suites have balconies and windows that face the sacred circle and the water features. These water features are fed by collected stormwater and treated wastewater.

Reception
This is the reception area for the resort. It contains beautiful curved walls, display cases, and elegant details. The resort is decorated for the holiday season with christmas trees and wreaths.

Historic Suites
This photo shows the entrances to the historic adobe suites that date to the early 1900's. Each suite is warmly decorated and spacious.

The El Monte Resort is set back from the road to provide privacy. The massing is unique, layered and beautiful.
